TWISTS recounts ten years of a motif in the paintings of Michelle Marchesseault: the interlocking S-twist, each about two and half inches tall, painted in every way.

Marchesseault paints each twist with a single exhale. The brushstrokes are as breaths. They fit, like the fibers of a plant, into fields of color, texture, and emotion.

Paintings from 2016, 2020, 2021, 2023, 2026.

The mini-retrospective is a prelude to Marchesssault’s upcoming show of new work, October 2026.
