Logan Larsen (b. 1998, Houston, TX) is an artist that uses print, publication, sculpture installation, and moving images as research into Queer histories. He produces objects as devotional efforts and to establish connections with lost communities.

This zine is an exact reproduction of a 1996 zine by the Judy Garland Club.

“I found a set of The Rainbow Review on eBay in 2022 while looking for Judy Garland fan memorabilia.

“I was inspired by the myth that Judy Garland’s death caused the 1969 Stonewall Riots. In researching this fabricated story I wanted to look into the fan culture surrounding Garland and investigate the idea that her death caused the riots. It turned out that this attribution was a derogatory slight aimed against the rioters (i.e. the gays were so upset last night by the death of Garland that they rioted).”

Q. Why do you think Judy Garland is culturally a queer icon?

“She mirrors the struggles and hopes of a generation of queer men. Though I’m not necessarily part of that generation, I still find it interesting to investigate the reverence held towards her.”
