Stella Alesi’s practice is protean, ever shifting and curious. The forms in the Weatherscapes balance turbulence and calm, multipart dances of earth, water, air, and fire, all spirit.
A cenotaph is a tomb without a body. The empty space in a cenotaph is held for the unfound and unrecognized. TJ Lemanksi’s sculptures are cenotaphs for fallen trees. To build one he follows a set of rituals. The fallen branch must be found, never cut or harvested. It is encased in a cement coffer and then ceremoniously burned, hollowing and carbonizing the enclosure.
