Michelle Marchesseault (1974, Indianapolis) is a painter, sculptor, and interiors artist. She works across mediums, with a material curiosity learned from decades of work as a scenic and decorative artist. Known for her “twist-field” paintings, somatic explorations of color and texture, Marchesseault has moved into a new way of painting. The new works, mostly oil and vinyl paint on linen, are layered, dream-like fantasias ripe with mystery, humor, and contradictory emotion.
Marchesseault’s work is in a number of private collections, including the Relais de Florent (Bae St. Paul, Quebec, Canada), and the Dimensional Collection.
She lives primarily in Austin, Texas, but spends time in New York City and Montreal, where she is engaged on a slate of site-specific projects.
Born and raised in Indiana in an artistic household, Marchesseault grew up behind the scenes of a dinner theater, and around educational and children’s publishing (1970s-80s). She studied painting at the Herron School of Art in Indianapolis, and sang in the 90s indie rock group Sardina. Marchesseault will have a new solo show at the gallery Fall 2026.
